Hannah joins acclaimed chamber ensemble Les Délices for a tour of “Woman Scorned”

Woman Scorned explores universal themes of desire, jealousy, shame and revenge by giving voice to the spurned lovers of antiquity. Rising star soprano, Hannah De Priest gives voice to the sorceress Circe in a bone-chilling cantata by Colin de Blamant, and wreaks vengeance as the witch Medea in works by Clérambault and Couperin.

Masterclass with Myra Huang - CAIC

Hannah De Priest and pianist Michael Pecak have been selected to participate in a masterclass through CAIC with pianist and coach Myra Huang centered on works by Black, woman composers. The duo will perform songs by Florence Price.

The masterclass will take place on Oct. 1st and will be broadcast online later in the month.

The master teacher for the class, pianist Myra Huang, regularly teaches at young artist programs throughout the U.S., including Music Academy of the West, the Houston Grand Opera Studio, and the Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. Acclaimed by Opera News as “among the top accompanists of her generation” and “a colouristic tour de force” by The New York Times, Huang performs in recitals and chamber music concerts around the world.”

Cesti Competition (participation contingent on EU travel restrictions)

Hannah has been selected to participate in the 2020 Cesti Competition at the Innsbrucker festwochen der alten musik. Her ability to compete is contingent on EU travel restrictions in place at the time of the competition.

The International Singing Competition for Baroque Opera Pietro Antonio Cesti is named after the Italian composer, who turned Innsbruck into a centre for the Italian opera north of the Alps in the mid-17th century. The competition was founded by Alessandro De Marchi in 2010. Meanwhile it became one of the most important singing competitions for Baroque opera worldwide.

Prizes include engagments at major opera houses, as well as prize money for the winners.

Schloss Weißenbrunn Virtual Scholarship Recipient

Based on the quality of her entry video into the virtual Bovicelli Competition, the Schloss Weißenbrunn Foundation has financed a scholarship for Hannah and other select participants to participate in an exclusive set of virtual individual coaching sessions and diminution instruction with leading experts in the field.

Tutors will work with the scholarship holders, both in groups and in individual tutorials, with specific reference to the works submitted, and will also discuss diminution in general.

Hannah is grateful for the opportunity to further enrich her understanding of 17th century diminution practices and looks forward to working with Dr. Sven Schwannberger from the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis during this course.

Beethoven at Home, Part Deux (virtual event)

The long-awaited sequel to Ars Musica Chicago’s popular Beethoven at Home presentation. This concert will feature all the artists who would have performed in May’s planned At Beethoven’s Hearth concerts in Chicago: Hannah De Priest, Allison Monrow, Cora Swenson Lee, and Michael Pecak.

Hannah will perform Haydn’s cantata Arianna a Naxos with Michael Pecak, fortepiano.
